New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel Debuts Old Hong Kong Charm Afternoon Tea at The Lounge
This July, New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel’s The Lounge delights guests with a brand-new Old Hong Kong Charm Afternoon Tea that brings back nostalgic memories of local cha chaan teng favourites in the form of exquisitely presented sweet and savoury creations.
Executive Pastry Chef Daniel Law and his talented team showcase their craftmanship and creativity by presenting the most iconic Hong Kong tea time treats and street snacks as edible miniatures, including the adorable, bite-size “French toast” Peanut Pound Cake, “pineapple bun” Pineapple Passion Fruit Puff, “curry fish balls” Yuzu Mousse Cake and “red bean coconut drink” Red Bean and Young Coconut Jelly Cup.
Chef Daniel also recreates his childhood memories of Hong Kong-style baked goodies and classic winter warmers with reinventions like Homemade Jumbo Palmier, Rich Milk Tea Roll Cake and English Scone in Baked Sweet Potato Flavour.
The sentimental assembly doesn’t stop at the dessert selection. The delectable savoury array includes Abalone, Chicken and Jinhua Ham Tartlet, an elevated version of traditional chicken pie, while Black Truffle, Corned Beef and Egg Sandwich impresses with its combination of premium and comfort ingredients.
Other must-try items include scrumptious Golden Curry Pork Skin and Squid, bold-flavoured Cilantro and Preserved Egg Jelly with Smoked Caviar, as well as refreshing Tiger Prawn and Salmon Roe Rice Roll with Pickled Papaya.
The whimsical afternoon tea comes with one drink per person. Diners can pick from The Lounge’s coffee selections, signature tea blend or iconic Hong Kong-styled iced milk tea. Guests can opt to upgrade their drinks to seasonal specials – Pineapple Delight (pineapple Yakult soda), Tender Moments (red bean paste, coconut jelly and coconut milk), or Condensed Milk and Peanut Butter Coffee, for just an additional HKD38 per person.
The tea set is attractively served in a three-tiered “bird cage” stand, amidst the comfortable, tranquil lounge enhanced by two-storey windows and elegant sofa seating.
Old Hong Kong Charm Afternoon Tea is available daily from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. It is priced at HKD448 for two (or HKD238 per person). All prices are subject to 10% service charge and cannot be enjoyed with any discount privileges. One-day advance reservation is recommended by calling +852 2313 4222.
